# Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Base

01 - 140 g frozen corn or peas (optional)
02 - 240 ml canned diced tomatoes with juice
03 - 480 ml beef broth or chicken broth
04 - 200 g uncooked white or brown rice
05 - 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
06 - 0.5 teaspoon salt
07 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
08 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
09 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
10 - 1 red bell pepper, diced (optional)
11 - 1 small onion, diced
12 - 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for lean beef)
13 - 450 g ground beef

→ Cheddar Crust Topping

14 - 1 tablespoon butter, melted
15 - 30 g panko breadcrumbs
16 - 170 g shredded sharp cheddar cheese

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Let it chill out for about 5 minutes. Makes it easier to slice and scoop up.
02 - Pop the dish back in, uncovered. Bake about 10–12 minutes. You want melty cheese and a crunchy golden top.
03 - Grab a small bowl and toss together the butter, panko, and shredded cheddar. Mix till it's all mixed up.
04 - Move your mixture into the greased baking dish and even it out. Cover tight with foil. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes till the rice is soft and most liquid’s gone.
05 - Pour your broth, then add the canned tomatoes (don’t drain them) and veggies if you want. Toss in the rice and combine everything. Let it start to simmer.
06 - Toss in onion, garlic, and bell pepper if you’re using it. Cook for a couple of minutes until everything’s soft. Sprinkle over the paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper; stir it up.
07 - Heat up a big skillet on medium-high and crumble in the ground beef. Let it brown. If the meat’s super lean, a splash of oil helps.
08 - Fire up the oven to 190°C. Lightly grease a baking dish—33 by 23 centimeters.

# Extra Tips and Tricks:

01 - No problem swapping in ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based meat if you’d like.
02 - Using brown rice? Give it an extra 5 or 10 minutes—just make sure it’s cooked through.
03 - Want extra veggies? Things like mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini fit right in.
04 - Mixing in some parmesan with the cheddar topping makes it even tastier.
05 - You can build this ahead of time and pop it in the fridge. If you bake it cold, go five minutes longer.
