Rich layers of ground beef, Italian sausage, and a trio of cheeses blend into an amazing baked dish you'll want to save for memorable occasions.

# Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Meat Sauce

01 - 1 lb ground beef
02 - 1 lb Italian sausage
03 - 1 medium onion, chopped
04 - 3 garlic cloves, crushed
05 - 1 jar (24 oz) tomato sauce
06 - 1 can (14 oz) chopped tomatoes
07 - 1 tsp mixed herbs
08 - Salt and pepper, add as needed

→ Creamy Cheese Layer

09 - 2 cups cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
10 - 1 package (8 oz) softened cream cheese
11 - 1/2 cup sour cream
12 - 1 large egg
13 - 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
14 - 2 cups shredded mozzarella, split

→ Pasta Layer

15 - 12 lasagna sheets, cooked and drained (or grab no-boil sheets)

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat a 9×13-inch dish with oil.
02 - Put a small amount of meat sauce at the bottom of your greased dish. Place 3 lasagna sheets on top, then add a third of your cheese mix over them. Add meat sauce evenly on top. Do this two more times with sheets, cheese, and meat sauce until everything's used up. Top with the last sheets, whatever meat sauce is left, and finish by sprinkling the remaining cup of mozzarella all over.
03 - Cover the dish with foil and stick it in the oven for 25 minutes. Then take the foil off and let it cook another 20 minutes until the cheese gets bubbly and turns a bit golden.
04 - Let it sit for 10-15 minutes after taking it out. This makes it easier to cut and serve without falling apart.

# Extra Tips and Tricks:

01 - You can go with cottage cheese or ricotta for the middle part, though ricotta makes it creamier.
02 - The tang from cream cheese and sour cream really ups the whole dish.
03 - Try adding a bit of red wine to your meat mix while it cooks for extra kick.
04 - Make it a day early if you want, just keep it cold and add 10-15 more minutes to heating time.
05 - It'll stay good in your fridge for 4 days and actually tastes better the next day.
